African Grey Parrot Sponsorships: $540/yr. ($45 / mo.)
Gooey is a wild caught Timneh African Grey. He was purchased by his loving owner in Africa. When she saw him, he was a fresh caught baby Timneh surrounded by sick and dying birds in a crate. Sadly, she could only take him as so many others were so far gone. When the time came, she filled out all of the legal paperwork, he went through U.S. quarantine, and eventually was placed here to live out the rest of his life. He is much loved and has a great personality.
Piña is a wild caught Timneh. She is an ex breeder with an unstoppable personality. She is fearless and not afraid to "lay down the law". She is absolutely beautiful beyond words and getting more comfortable around us everyday. She is a masterpiece.
Happy loves to ask you, "what are you doing?" He is sarcastic and fun loving. Nervous around people but getting better all of the time! He will take a treat from people now! :-)
Lady Grey is bonded to Baxter, after he tried for her attention for over a year. They are a very attached pair. Lady Grey is a very free spirit and loves to fly. She is straight out of the wild, but trusting (now) to humans and will come close as long as she knows she can trust you not to grab her.
Stormy was left for a week or more, abandoned in a home without food or water. He was rescued and found his way to the sanctuary where he loves to eat, dig, fly, and chase feet of visitors. Catch him on a good day, and he will break out in dance with you if you start it!
Ci-Ci also came from the 1,000 bird seizure in Texas. Ci-Ci is a feisty girl. It is not clear as to whether or not she is wild caught. She's an Ex Breeder Parrot.
Johnny is a wild caught ex breeder bird for 30(ish) years. He was voluntarily retired from breeding. His mate is June, she also lives in the aviary.
